WMO Youth-Led Research

Here, you'll find all the relevant information about our upcoming project on IAM analysis on water with the World Meteorological Organization.

Climate Protest

Background Information

WMO Youth Office

In 2024, the WMO (World Meterological Organization) formally recognized the role of youth as decision makers in the climate change agenda. This includes capacity building on research, support for early-career researchers, and the development of a WMO Youth Trust Fund.

Concept Note

Our Engagement

The Keeling Society has collaborated well with the WMO on prior occasions, and through mutual exchanges, began the development of a youth-led research project to align the two organizations' goals and vision.

The planned research project is to do an Integrated Assessment Model (IAM) policy analysis— in essence, to look at how the WMO's data on water systems could inform better policies on its governance.

Formalization

Next Steps

We have successfully pitched our idea to the WMO Office, and will have a meeting with their team in mid-September to look at next steps.

At this stage, we are looking for more members to participate in this project, and the House is working on arranging access to research facilities, including relevant software, data visualisation tools, and so on.

We will also negotiate funding for this project, as it is formal research, and will have more answers for you after our call.
